Whisper is also probably the best power weapon call here.įor a more prolonged fight, you’re going to want to mostly keep rotating out of three different tunnels in the back of the map. I’ve heard of some people being able to melt him using the EP shotty instantly, so feel free to try that if you want. He’ll throw flaming swords at you for solar, he’ll throw arc AOE bombs at you and then he’ll absorb damage before dropping a slowing nova bomb on you. Then you get to Ghaul, which is easily the most nightmarish solo boss fight in the game. Trying throwing sticky or AOE grenades for these ones. Sometimes you can’t do this and will just have to take the hits. If they are on, try peeking around corners until you can just see one leg, as they can’t hit you but you can hit them. Remember that you can shoot turrets before they’re even active, so if you’re far enough away, you can take down a lot of them before they’re even on. The rooftop section is only hard the first time, but once you understand that you have to snipe down all the turrets, it’s easier. They will not follow you into the next section. Once you kill them, the gate opens, so you don’t have to clear the entire area if you don’t want to, and you can run by everyone else. Each section will have a gate that’s guarded by a boss or two. The first ground section has a ton of armored enemies that you can dispose of how you want (Polaris for me!). This will be a little shorter, because the only truly hard part is Ghaul, but I’ll do the other two sections briefly. Just don’t leave the bridge and rock back and forth avoiding their shots while landing your own. You’re in a tank, you have to beat two Goliaths and a handful of ground enemies. The final section is absurdly easy compared to what came before it. Pick at them until they fall, take cover if you’re damaged and do not ever be a target of both at once. Any power weapon besides grenades and swords works wonders here, so dump all your ammo. The one on the left has those stun missiles that are annoying so the “only see their head” trick doesn’t work as they’ll hit you anyway. The Colossus on the right has a solar chain gun that will tear right through you in a half second, so do not stand up to that. Try to get an angle where you can see their head, but their guns can’t find you. Really the only recourse here is to pick at them from the initial starting deck area. Next up is a rather annoying part that has two beefy Colossus bosses shooting at you. SAVE a super for the final door which contains two Phalanxes and a Centurion boss that you’re going to want to be able to melt immediately. Repeat this pattern of running forward until enemies spawn, then running back to safety to snipe at them about five times, and that should be everyone. Any time your health is red take cover or you will die with how high damage these enemies are. Prioritize Psions because they can two shot you. This is where Polaris Lance comes in handy. There are two sets of drop pods on each side of the sun deck, and enemy spawns on the connecting bridge between them as well. Resting in any of the little shaded areas makes you too exposed. The only truly “safe” spots in the area are the starting point, and then the two “big” shaded areas. You need to run forward until the drop pods spawn, then turn right around and run back to safety so you can pick off enemies at a distance. Die anywhere in this part, and you’ll have to do the entire thing over. The deck will fry you except in the shade, but the map spawns so many enemies as well that you are rarely safe and can die a million times over. You may remember this from the story campaign, but it was never this hard there. Things don’t get especially difficult after this until the hardest part of this mission, arguably the hardest part of any mission, the sun deck. Polaris or Whisper can take down the shields of the dual Centurion bosses at the end of this part. Shotguns and sidearms are your friend against Gladiators, which are the most terrifying enemy in all of these missions. Bring AOE grenades if you have them to fend off a rush of war dogs that comes before and during the bridge. Psions are everywhere and they can essentially two shot you, so you cannot leave any of them alive. The beginning is not super difficult, but can kill you if you’re not careful. It’s just a very, very long mission, and most parts will require you to go very, very slowly in order not to die. Buckle up, because this is going to take probably a solid 40 minutes no matter what you do.
